Exploring Ikebana with Wylde

  • Wylde Flowers at The Assembly 307 West Martin Street Raleigh, NC, 27601 United States (map)

In this two-hour class, we'll explore Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arranging and its principles. Ikebana arrangements are characterized by their minimal aesthetic and harmonious use of seasonal materials. The first half of the class will focus on how to prepare and compose your arrangement using a kenzan (flower frog) and touch upon the principles and mathematics behind the Japanese style. We'll walk you through our process while we design so you can see how it all comes together. The last half of the class is dedicated to creating your very own Ikebana arrangement. You are free to take your creation home with you and continue the practice using the kenzan and shallow vessel provided.

The class will start at 6:00 pm in our shop at 307 W. Martin St. in downtown Raleigh and finish around 8:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

*Note: due to the limited number of seats available, purchased classes are non-refundable.

Wylde is a flower shop and floral design studio located at the front of The Assembly. Our designs are inspired by the natural world around us and incorporate local seasonal flowers and foraged botanical elements. We believe flowers are the most beautiful when they mimic nature and embrace the imperfections that make each bloom and leaf unique. We called this notion perfectly imperfect floral design.
